• Your Apps on txtWeb:
  • Which apps do you have on txtWeb currently? Which one is the most popular among users?

I currently have the Cricket scores app (@score) and the Lyrics app(@lyrics) on TxtWeb. The cricket score app is the most popular app between the two apps among the users.

• Which app are you most proud of having developed and why?

I’m most proud of having developed the Lyrics app because its unique on TxtWeb as far as my knowledge goes.

• What was your motivation in developing these apps on txtWeb?

I wanted to do something besides what was in my curriculum so I chose to develop these apps. Also, the Lyrics app had another motivation as well. I wanted a way to retrieve lyrics without having to look for it on the internet while listening to music on my phone.

• Your experience with txtWeb:
  • What has been your learning while developing apps on txtWeb?

I developed my TxtWeb apps using Java and thus I became more familiar with the language. I also learnt more about how the “cloud” works and got to learn a lot from fellow TxtWeb developers.

• Considering that txtWeb is platform agnostic, which technology do you use to develop apps on txtWeb?

I used Java to develop apps on TxtWeb.

• As a developer, why would you recommend txtWeb platform to other developers?

A few reasons :

1. Its easy to start developing apps.

2. Its fun.

3. Its easy to reach out to people using your apps. You can reach out to people regardless of whether they own smart phones or not.

  • Which are the other platforms you have developed apps on?

I have given Android app development a shot. Although it was only the hello world app :)

• How has your experience been on txtWeb vis-a-vis other platforms?

Setting up the build environment for txtWeb was easier than it was for Android! :)

• Which online resources, websites, forums do you often visit and recommend to other developers?

Nothing in particular. I just google stuff!. The Java documentation is of good help though. I usually refer to it if I run into issues when programming in Java.

• Who is your role model? What are your personal aspirations?

No one in particular. I generally tend to draw inspiration from the people I’m surrounded by. Personal aspiration : I’d like to contribute to the field of Artificial Intelligence.
