Many of you will agree that cricket in India has been done to death – everyday, it devours reams of our print media and takes up all prime slots on national television. As a nation, our achievements in other sports go almost un-noticed. txtWeb’s library, too, presently shows this bias --- while we have numerous apps for getting cricket scores, hockey, tennis, badminton, athletics etc almost find no takers. Or shall we say app makers?
We dug a little deeper for an opportunity-analysis and found that there are many such areas where fantastic apps can be made. Areas, so far untouched, but which promises to catapult txtWeb to the next level.
Here’s is a quick glance at some of these categories:
· Education:
There is no app which gives the admission schedules of different schools and colleges in India. Considering how stressful and traumatic admissions are, an app for this could give the students some breather to say the least.
· Sports:
How about recording and following the milestones of SainaNehwal (Badminton), AbhinavBindra, Anjali Bhagat (Shooting), JyotirmoyeeSikdar (Athletics), JeevMilkha Singh, JyotiRandhawa (Golf), PankajAdvani (Billiards), DibyenduBarua (Chess), RohanBopanna (Tennis) and scores of other rising stars in all forms of sports?
· India:
This time as an ode to our Republic Day, why don’t you make an app that chronicles the important dates of India’s freedom struggle, or lists out the names of those prominent leaders who showed and led the way to our freedom movement?
· Health:
An app that gives the names of highly recommended doctors specialising in a particular field for any city in India can be very useful. Looking for a good paediatrician, heart specialist, etc will be then just an SMS away.
· Travel:
Our rich cultural heritage is famous world over – tourists from distant lands come to see our Desert Festival in Jaiselmer, Hampi Festival in Karnataka, Konark Dance Festival in Orissa, Sunburn in Goa, Literature Festival in Jaipur, Boat Race in Allepy. Won’t it be great if there was an app that gave all the info about our Fairs & Festivals through an app?
Despite being a relatively new player, txtWeb has always endeavoured to reach the masses with its easy to use and extremely practical mobile applications. The baby steps have been taken. Now it is time for our developers to take on greater challenges and bring new sets of apps for the ever-receptive audience.
The above examples are indicative, a drop in the ocean. It is for you to dive into this ocean of opportunity and create apps that can truly be called the next-generation apps.
