Until 1980s: Bangalore called a ‘garden city’ for its many gardens and boulevards. Also called the ‘pensioners’ paradise’ as its pleasant climate and laid back life attracted many pensioners .
1990s: Bangalore rechristened ‘Silicon city’ with so many home grown and multinational IT companies setting up offices here.
2000s: Bangalore notoriously called ‘Pub city’ with the proliferation of pubs all over the city.
The transition over just two decades from a pensioners’ paradise to youngsters’ hub has been quite a dichotomy, and Bangalore as it stands today, is an urban sprawl. With concerted government policy on sectors like ICT, education, industries relating to science etc, it has been ‘Bangalore-Beckoning’ for professionals and students from across the country and in some cases, even the globe.
With so many heads all flocking to this city, accommodation availability can be quite a stressful proposition. However, didn’t we say that this city of gardens is also full of IT wizards? One such wizardry is an application named @rental. One SMS to 9243342000 with details of budget and location preference (@rental budget location), responds with a list of properties available for rent in that area.
Whoever found wizardry to be a bad occupation?
